Abstract
The phenomenon of interpenetration, or the involvement of Armenian and Ukrainian cultures is called the interconnection of the best traditions of the art of one culture to the works of another. An important element of these processes is the performers themselves who, in their creative career, either turn or do not turn to ethnic motifs. For the most part, in the works of the Armenian musicians of Ukraine, we can observe the presence of elements of the Armenian melody, which harmoniously interacts with Ukrainian folk inclusions. The article views a current phenomenon of modern culture – the interpenetration of several different cultures (in the historical-typological sense) in Ukraine. The focus of the research is on the creativity of Armenian musicians who initially are in the process of improvisation and subsequently and in most of their projects use mixing of ethnic elements of Ukrainian and Armenian melodies. The genres of jazz and heavy music (jazz-funk, groove, death-metal, pop-jazz, and others) were chosen for review. The main results of the research reveal the features of the use of classical folk ethnic elements in modern music in the genre of jazz, author’s song, and heavy music. Thanks to direct communication with numerous Armenian musicians of Ukraine, we managed to reveal their preference for the use of Armenian and Ukrainian folk elements in their work. The works of such musicians as Armen Kostandyan, Alina Ghazaryan, Armen Oganesyan, Oleksandr Avagyan, and Anatoliy Aleksenyan have been considered for the first time. The article analyzes their creativity and the presence of ethnic motifs in the music of these actors. It is proved that Armenian musicians prefer the genre of jazz in their work and have significant achievements in the Ukrainian musical field. Somewhat more modest, but interesting and versatile, there is an achievement in a difficult genre.
