dc.description.abstractРеформа шкільної освіти в Україні вимагає від науковців теоретичного та методологічного інструментарію забезпечення динамічної взаємодії особистісного та соціального вимірів учня в процесі шкільного навчання. І поняття аґентності, яке вже увійшло в міжнародний дискурс шкільного реформування, може стати основою для напрацювання такого інструментарію. Спроби концептуалізації аґентності в межах теорії життєвого шляху спираються на психологічний бік її розуміння, наголошуючи передовсім на суб’єктивній вірі учня в самоефективність. Соціологічне розуміння учнівської аґентності передбачає появу структурного – навчального – середовища, у взаємодії з яким і відбувається навчання.uk_UA
dc.description.abstractSchool education reform in Ukraine has been challenging the theorists to elaborate a theoretical and methodological instrument to depict dynamic relations of a student’s personal and social dimensions within the school learning process. And the notion of agency, which is already a part of international policy school reform discourse, has the potential to become the basis for such an instrument. Agency conceptualization in the framework of the life course theory is based on its social psychological understanding and the emphasis on a learner’s subjective belief in self-efficiency. The sociological perspective conceives the leaner agency not as something detached but always in (though different) relations with structure; similarly, the notion of a learner agency is to be perceived through a processual dimension of interaction with structural factors of a school learning environment. The main issues addressed in this article are as follow: 1) the description of the agency research dimension in education, 2) the plurality of agency definitions, 3) the ways of agency operationalization, and 4) a transition of a sociological term ‘agency’ into the educational domain. The potential input of a plurality of agency definitions in sociology is threefold: –  it might balance the gravity towards individual, subjective analysis dimension, which has prevailed in the education domain as the result of life course theory agency understanding as a belief in self-efficiency; –  it perceives school learning environment as a structural one, and a learner agency is formed and manifested through interaction with it; –  it insists on multidimensionality of a learner agency in a sense involving orientations to the past, the present, and the future. As regards the ways of the learner agency operationalization, there is still a need to elaborate a series of indicators to characterize the learning environment which either enables or limits the learner agency.en_US
