Abstract
Проблема героїзму як вияву надзвичайної мужності чи жертовності має комплексний характер: критерії визначення героїзму розтягуються на шкалі від "достатньо самовіддано виконувати важливі для громади функції" до "обов’язково ризикувати життям". зв’язки з уявленнями про бойові дії, проте сучасний 20-томний тлумачний словник української мови не фіксує цього у першому значенні, звертаючи увагу лише на відвагу, самовідданість і хоробрість. Більшість праць в українській гуманітаристиці присвячена філософським і текстовим вимірам концепту ГЕРОЙ, тому є потреба дослідження особливостей його вербалізації, особливо під час війни, що є каталізатором його еволюції. Мета пропонованої розвідки – дослідження асоціативного поля концепту ГЕРОЙ у сучасній українській мові на матеріалі вільного асоціативного експерименту. Асоціативний експеримент було проведено у квітні 2022 року серед студентів та аспірантів українських освітніх і наукових установ. За результатами експерименту на стимул герой було отримано 1239 відповідей, що групуються в 237 асоціацій з різною частотністю. У побудованому асоціативному полі стрижневою асоціацією стала ЗСУ. Асоціативне поле засвідчує ціннісно-захисну, інтеграційну, самоідентифікаційну, життєстверджувальну, владно-легітимізувальну функції героїв у суспільстві. Крім того, виявлено, що в мовній картині світу українців герой є великою людиною, здатною впливати на історію та покращувати життя решти членів спільноти.Найбільше мікрополе у структурі побудованого асоціативного поля концепту формують номінації героїв. Серед них виділяються антропоніми та назви міст. Інші важливі мікрополя фіксують моральні цінності та риси героя, візуальні асоціації та цитати, пов’язані з ним, уявлення про життя і смерть, членів родини.

The problem of heroism as a manifestation of extraordinary courage or sacrifice has a complex nature: the criteria for defining heroism stretch on a scale from "sufficiently selfless to perform important functions for the community" to "necessarily risking one's life". From the time of its origin in the ancient Greek language until now, the word hero shows close connections with ideas about military actions, however, the modern 20-volume dictionary of the Ukrainian language does not record this in the first meaning, paying attention only to courage, dedication, and bravery. Most works in Ukrainian humanitarian studies are devoted to the philosophical and textual dimensions of the HERO concept, therefore there is a need to study the peculiarities of its verbalization, especially during the war as a catalyst for its evolution. The purpose of the proposed article is to study the associative field of the HERO concept in the modern Ukrainian language based on a free associative experiment. The associative experiment was conducted in April 2022 among students and postgraduates of Ukrainian educational and scientific institutions. According to the experiment's results, 1239 responses to the hero stimulus were obtained, grouped into 237 associations with different frequencies. In the constructed associative field, the ZSU became the core association. The associative field testifies to the value-protective, integrative, self-identifying, life-affirming, power-legitimizing function of heroes in society. In addition, it was found that in the linguistic picture of the world of Ukrainians, the hero is a great person, capable of influencing history and improving the lives of the rest of the community members. The largest microfield in the structure of the constructed associative field of the concept is formed by nominations of heroes. Among them, anthroponyms and city names stand out. Other important microfields record the hero's moral values and traits, visual associations and quotes related to him, ideas about life and death, family members.
