Abstract
This report is part of the Environmental Corruption Deep Dive Series, a
multidisciplinary research project of the Green Corruption programme at the Basel Institute on Governance. The Environmental Corruption Deep Dive Series analyses, through selected case studies, how corruption facilitates environmental crimes. The main objectives of the research project are to raise awareness of the seriousness of environmental corruption and create a better understanding of its concrete mechanisms. By building up a collection of case studies from various countries and sectors, the series seeks to identify patterns of environmental corruption and ultimately a general typology. In doing so it aims to expand the global conversation on environmental corruption and bolster dialogue between stakeholders at the national level. The Environmental Corruption Deep Dive Series, including this report, is made possible by the generous support of the Principality of Liechtenstein.
