dc.descriptionThe article examines the reaction of participants of the Ukrainian dissident movement to the remarkable events in Czechoslovakia during 1968 based on memoirs and correspondence. These ego-sources provide first-hand accounts of the enthusiasm, hopes, sadness, and despair that the dissidents experienced for a short time. Although the subjective character of these sources requires additional critical analysis and verification, the memoirs provide exceptional testimonies and impressions of these events. Reforms in Czechoslovakia aroused expectations among dissidents about the prospects for the democratic process in the Soviet Union. However, the sharp suppression of the democratization of Czechoslovak society has dispelled any illusions about possibilities for the transformation the Soviet totalitarian regime. The article presents the main alternative information sources that were used by dissidents. It also examines the main aspects of cultural interaction between Ukrainian and Czechoslovak intellectuals both before and during the "Prague Spring", focusing on the specific reactions and measures those Ukrainian dissidents took after the invasion of Prague.en_US
dc.description.abstractНа основі мемуарів і епістолярію висвітлено реакцію представників українського дисидентського руху на визначні події в Чехословаччині 1968 р. Ці его-джерела дають змогу з перших вуст дізнатися про захоплення, надії, сум і розпач, що охоплювали дисидентів протягом нетривалого часу. Хоча через суб’єктивний характер ці джерела потребують додаткового критичного аналізу та верифікації, мемуари надають виняткові свідчення та враження про ці події. Реформи в Чехословаччині дали дисидентам сподівання на перспективи розвитку демократичних процесів у Радянському Союзі. Однак різке придушення процесів демократизації чехословацького суспільного життя розвіяло ілюзії про можливості трансформації радянського тоталітарного режиму. У статті розглянуто основні джерела інформації, якими послуговувались дисиденти. Розглянуто ключові аспекти культурної взаємодії між українською і чехословацькою інтелігенцією до і під час "Празької весни", а також конкретні реакції та заходи, вжиті українськими дисидентами після вторгнення до Праги. uk_UA
