Since the independence of Ukraine in 1991, the values of equality and human rights have become more important for Ukrainian society. Gender equality was actualized significantly during and after the Euromaidan Protests of 2013-2014, known as the “Revolution of Dignity.” Ukrainian women challenged traditional gender roles, relegating women to the domestic sphere and reclaimed visibility, recognition, and respect as volunteers and participants in protests.en_US
