dc.descriptionThe article focuses on the study of the concept of Bildung in German Romanticism, taking the philosophical works of Friedrich Schlegel as an example. It demonstrates that the word Bildung, like the word Bild from which it derives, plays an important role in the German philosophical tradition. The history of their usage refers to diverse contexts such as medieval mysticism, German idealism and Romanticism, the philosophy of life, as well as the ontological and philosophical-hermeneutic traditions. In this regard, both the word Bild and its derivatives are considered “untranslatable”. Bildung is no exception. It is shown that possible translations of this word may include “education”, “culture”, or “formation”, but depending on the context, it may acquire connotations that are not exhausted by any of these three options. One such context is German Romanticism, which placed Bildung at the center of its philosophical reflections. The article demonstrates that Schlegel’s understanding of this word sheds light on the Romantic conception of philosophy, morality, religion, and epistemology. This, however, does not concern the Romantics’ exploitation of Schiller’s or Fichte’s ideas regarding “moral education” or “popular education”, nor the influence of Goethe’s Bildungsroman, but rather a distinct and unique philosophical project that must be considered on its own. It is shown that in the Romantic tradition, Bildung refers to the awareness of the imperfection of understanding, which forms the basis of philosophical and moral experience. The pursuit of absolute knowledge is combined with the recognition that a person is the sum of attempts to understand what they are, in accordance with the fundamental injunction: “become what you are”. This ultimately connects the Romantic tradition to a historical tradition associated with the idea of consciously constructing one’s personal project, a notion that can be traced to Nietzsche.en_US
dc.description.abstractУ статті сконцентровано увагу на дослідженні поняття Bildung у німецькому романтизмі на прикладі філософських робіт Фрідріха Шлеґеля. Продемонстровано, що слово Bildung, як і слово Bild, від якого воно походить, відіграє важливе значення для німецької філософської традиції. Історія їх вживання відсилає до таких різноманітних контекстів, як середньовічний містицизм, німецький ідеалізм і романтизм, філософія життя, а також онтологічна традиція та філософська герменевтична. З огляду на це, як слово Bild, так і його похідні заведено відносити до "неперекладностей". Bildung не є винятком. Показано, що можливим перекладом цього слова може бути «освіта», "культура" чи "формування", але залежно від контексту воно може набувати конотацій, що не вичерпуються жодним із цих трьох варіантів. Одним із таких контекстів виступає німецький романтизм, який помістив Bildung у центр своїх філософських розмислів. У статті продемонстровано, що розуміння цього слова у філософії Шлеґеля проливає світло на романтичне розуміння філософії, моралі, релігії, епістемології. При цьому йдеться не про експлуатацію романтиками ідей Шиллера або Фіхте стосовно "морального виховання" чи "народної освіти", а також не про вплив роману виховання Ґете, а про своєрідний та унікальний філософський проєкт, який необхідно розглядати окремо. З’ясовано, що Bildung у романтичній традиції відсилає до усвідомлення недосконалості розуміння, яке кладеться в основу філософського та морального досвіду. Прагнення до абсолютного пізнання поєднується з усвідомленням того, що людина є сумою спроб зрозуміти, чим вона є й відповідно до основного заклику "стань тим, ким ти є". Останнє долучає романтичну традицію до історичної традиції, що пов'язується з уявленням про необхідність усвідомлення вибудови особистого проєкту, який можна простежити до Ніцше.uk_UA
