dc.descriptionThe article is devoted to the attempts of atheist agitators, who were former priests and renounced their faith, to find a way to speak “correctly” about their religious past. They, like other Soviet people, used the practice of writing “correct biographies” as a survival strategy. However, the agitators faced a particularly difficult task: the authorities expected them to talk about their religious past and renunciation of faith as examples of atheist propaganda; at the same time such stories could be potentially dangerous for their authors. Based on Yevgraf Duluman’s autobiographical story “Why I stopped believing in God,” we try to trace the strategies used by propagandists in constructing their past. To do this, we analyze the author’s self-identification, the narrative he constructs, and the topos of “travelling to another world” that he uses to depict his religious past. The last phrase is not just a nice metaphor, but a product of the ideological discourse of Khrushchev’s thaw period with its strong emphasis on the creation of a Soviet new language. It demonstrates that agitators turned primarily to those rhetorical constructions that would be familiar to Soviet society in search of ways to “correctly” talk about themselves.en_US
dc.description.abstractСтаттю присвячено спробам агітаторів-атеїстів, які в минулому були священниками і зреклися віри, знайти спосіб "правильно" говорити про своє релігійне минуле. Вони, як і інші радянські люди, використовували практику написання "правильних біографій" як одну із стратегій виживання. Однак перед агітаторами поставало складне завдання: влада очікувала, що вони розповідатимуть про своє релігійне минуле та зречення віри як про приклади наочної атеїстичної пропаганди, водночас, такі сюжети могли бути потенційно небезпечними для їхніх авторів. На основі автобіографічного нарису Євграфа Дулумана "Чому я перестав вірити в бога" ми намагаємося простежити стратегії, які використовували пропагандисти у репрезентації свого минулого. Для цього ми аналізуємо самоідентифікацію автора, наратив, який він конструює, і топос "мандрівки до іншого світу", який Дулуман використовує для зображення свого релігійного минулого. Останній є не просто гарною метафорою, а продуктом ідеологічного дискурсу періоду "відлиги" з його яскравим акцентом на творенні радянської новомови. І демонструє, що у пошуках засобів "правильно" говорити про себе агітатори звертались передусім до тих риторичних конструкцій, які були б знайомими радянському суспільству.uk_UA
