Item The 4th Industrial Revolution and Innovative Labor: Trends, Challenges, Forecasts(2017) Chala, Nina; Poplavska, OksanaThe society is driven by the cyclical effect of the technological progress, which transforms the economy and changes the demand and supply notions within the labor market. However, today's changes, namely the 4th Industrial Revolution, have a number of features, among which the most significant is transforming the role and place of people in the production, economy, and life. This notion has both positive and negative trends. On the one hand, the potential of some economies will grow, thereby bringing high profits; however, on the other hand, many people will be unemployed, which once again requires much effort from the state and business to equalize the imbalance between supply and demand on labor sources. The authors of the article attempted to reveal the basic trends of the 4th Industrial Revolution in Ukraine, to predict some possible risks and changes, and to justify the strategic directions of the country's development in face of the new environment. This is important because price is one of the key parameters of a contract. It is this parameter that determines how much of the value created in the framework of the contract in a monetary form goes to the contractor and what remains to the client. The study has found that the contract drivers of pricing are the initial price, control, incentives (moral hazard), and the final price. This interpretation coincides with the fundamentals of contract theory and is a prerequisite for the fundamental credibility of the developed system. The basic input components of the decision-making algorithm on the most appropriate pricing strategy are the matrix of properties of contract price models and a metric of questions for evaluating the client’s respective priorities for the project. The system helps choose one of five key pricing strategies: CRC, MC, TC, LS or GMP, which are used in international practice. Applying the system of choosing the pricing model of a contract in conjunction with the system of selecting the organizational profile of the project provides an opportunity to choose the most appropriate strategy from 130 paired alternatives. The proposed approach in a cumulative way contributes to the success of construction projects and has a unified character. The formalized toolkit for benchmarking alternatives is the digital content of the strategic COMP – Contract Organizational Mechanisms: Pricing. The algorithm is built on estimating the priority vectors of pricing factors for a project (based on certain sets of ranks and ratings) with a further grading of the feasibility of using each of the alternative price models in the project. Approbation of the COMP system in the construction project of the Ice Arena in Kyiv has shown that the created conceptual model (the proposed algorithm) makes it possible to take an expedient decision on the pricing strategy for a contract with mathematical, high theoretical and practical argumentation.Item Analysing students' mobility at higher education institutions: case of Ukrainian university during the war(2024) Chala, Nina; Pichyk, Kateryna; Poddenezhnyi, Oleksandr; Voropai, OlgaHigher Education Institutions (HEIs) often overlook the importance of systematic data collection and analysis. This oversight can obscure critical trends and decision-making insights, particularly student mobility. HEIs management may not detect the outflow of students related to academic mobility and therefore will not make timely managerial decisions. This article aims to provide guidance to university management on how data collection and analysis can improve informed decision-making, focusing on student mobility, especially in times of severe disruptions, like military conflicts. To reach this goal, desk research of previous literature was conducted to identify risks and challenges related to students’ mobility and the previous experience to address them. Secondary data analysis of student outflow at the Faculty of Economics of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" (NaUKMA) from 2015–2022, alongside a student survey provided insights into the students’ academic mobility process dynamics. The findings demonstrate a significant outflow of students from educational programs, highlighting the opportunities and risks associated with academic mobility. Analysis of this data reveals critical insights into student motivation, which can significantly influence their decisions and behavior. Students’ mobility data analysis will instantly point out the problem to HEI management, making it possible to prevent the consequences.Item Analysis of Advertisement Financial Efficiency in Pharmaceutical Sphere(2017) Dadashova, Pervin; Khobta, V.This paper defines the main trends of pharmaceutical market development in Ukraine and presents the most common measures of the demand stimulation for pharmaceutical products, primarily advertisement. The scope of the investigation included the analysis of the impact of these measures on the companies’ revenue from sales, with the use of the panel data model, and the group of products with the low income level without advertisement was defined. The respective group was additionally analyzed with the use of cluster analysis that allowed for conclusion on the most efficient demand stimulation instruments. The obtained results show that in order to perform an efficient advertisement campaign, it is necessary to analyze statistical data regarding separate products sales with the application of the methods presented in the paper.Item Analysis of the expenditures of the state budget of Ukraine(Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Publishing House, 2023) Lukianenko, IrynaFor many years, the budget system of Ukraine has been characterized by instability and constant reforms, budget deficits, a significant amount of national debt, and imperfections in intergovernmental relations (Figure 5.1). AI enhances the effectiveness of auditors by automating routine tasks and improving data analysis. Major audit companies, such as EY and PwC, have integrated AI into their practices to save time, increase accuracy, and provide better services to clients. AI applications in auditing include anomaly detection, fraud prevention, revenue analysis, risk assessment, and financial data analysis. Machine learning algorithms, a subset of AI, play a crucial role in analyzing large volumes of financial data, identifying patterns, and making predictions. AI implementation in auditing involves different stages, including pre-planning, planning, contracting, control risk assessment, and substantive tests. The benefits of AI for auditors and clients include improved data analysis, reduced human error, increased efficiency, and enhanced audit quality. However, the successful implementation of AI in auditing requires a clear understanding of its strengths, limitations, and challenges, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of specialized frameworks. AI has the potential to transform audit procedures, but human expertise and understanding are still essential for its proper use. It is important to recognize that while AI can automate certain tasks, it cannot replace auditors’ judgment and critical thinking skills. There are also challenges associated with AI implementation in auditing. These include the need for extensive data preparation, ensuring data quality and integrity, managing complex algorithms, and addressing regulatory and compliance issues. Furthermore, auditors must stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and continuously adapt their skills to leverage the technology effectively.Item Assessing how large is the market for prostitution in the European Union(2017) Adair, Philippe; Nezhyvenko, OksanaProstitution regimes in the EU-28 include prohibition, regulation and abolition; we tackle this typology from the perspective of both free sex work and forced labour, in order to gauge the magnitude of the European sex market as of 2010. We document the behaviour of customers on the demand-side for prostitution. Next, we address the supply-side, using HIV prevalence among sex workers to achieve a first series of two estimates. We design a second series of two estimates from miscellaneous sources (NGOS and the police). We investigate forced sexual labour trafficking, providing an additional series of estimates from the ILO and from Eurostat and UNODC. We check the magnitude of prostitution as regards employment figures and ranking with respect to the distribution of population in the EU countries. Thanks to an ordered probit, we test all five estimates; eventually, we come up with one best estimate (from HIV prevalence) that is also the lowest one.Item Assessment of the sources and magnitude of income in Ukraine's state budget(Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Publishing House, 2023) Lukianenko, IrynaIt is important to pay attention, that in 2022 the income of the state budget amounted to 115,1 % of the approved by the Parliament in the beginning of the year, the excess amounted to 234 billion UAH [12]. In the conditions of war government was searching for new income. At the same time, the amount of the biggest article of income- tax income in comparison to 2021 decreased for 14,21%. If the part of tax income in the general structure of the budget amounted to 85% in 2021, so in 2022 it accounted only 53%.Item Balanced system of indicators as a tool of the formation of the creative potential of companies(2021) Ivanova, Nataliia; Klymenko, A.; Kucherenko, D.; Kuznetsova, Tetyana; Salimon, O.The modern driver of the country’s economic development is the creative economy, which is considered by many scientists as a new model of the growth. Ukraine has not stayed away from the process of forming a creative economy. According to the rating of the Global Creativity of the Martin Prosperity Institute, Ukraine ranked 45th among 139 countries. Analysis of the content of the Global Index suggests that it is the high rating of the Talent Index (24 positions) that caused a fairly high Global Index. The reinforcing components of the High Talent Index are the number of the highly educated people and the share of creative workers. The Technology Index is quite high (43 positions). As for the Tolerance Index, Ukraine ranked 105th. The considered components of the indices allowed us to draw a conclusion about the existing unrealized and powerful reserves of Ukraine’s creativity. An important component of the formation of the creative economy of Ukraine is the creative industries. However, research has shown that the sources of creative potential are in non-creative industries. The basis of such sources is a human capital. It is important to find tools that will increase the creative potential of any business structure, regardless of its industry affiliation. However, research has shown that this problem has gone unnoticed by scientists. The article proves that such a tool is a balanced scorecard. The aim of the article is to analyze a balanced system of indicators in terms of their compliance with the requirements of the creative economy and to find sources for adapting this system to new requirements. The system is not only evaluative, but also serves as a means of the strategic management, as it allows you to direct the development strategy of the organization in the plane of specific strategic objectives and indicators. The advantages of the system are the ability to identify performance indicators to determine the main direction of the organization, and for individual units; use of feedback; bringing specific goals to each specific performer; motivation of employees of the enterprise depending on the results of the task; universality of application of the system. Analysis of the essence of a balanced scorecard allowed to identify sources of creativity for each of the four components of the system (financial, customer evaluation, business process efficiency, staff). The search for sources of system adaptation was carried out for BAKER TILLY Ukraine LLC. The company uses a balanced scorecard, which has its four main components and does not belong to the creative industries. As a result of the analysis of the company’s activity, the sources of increasing the creative potential were identified and the methods of their implementation were proposed.Item The Banking system of the UK: analysis and modelling(2022) Korol, Maryna; Bazhenova, Olena; Korol, Ihor; Bazhenov, Volodymyr; Yarmolenko, Julia; Vasylets, NelyaThe paper deals with the analysis of the banking system of the UK. The UK banking sector is quite diverse, and at the same time oligopolistic. The UK exit from the EU is already having a negative impact on main banking indicators. Uncertainty in the banking sector and among the business community is, definitely, very high. This means that banks will have to work on potential and alternative outcomes, depending on their development. The impact of Brexit on banks and banking in the UK will be determined by both government-level arrangements and the response of individual firms to operating conditions changes. At the same time, the realities of the banking environment after the crisis of 2008—2009 mean that it is necessary not only to strengthen market discipline, but also to avoid excessive proliferation and diversification of commercial banks and concentration of the banking system. The post-crisis environment is characterized by a decrease in the number of commercial banks in the UK. However, the reduction in the number of banks does not prevent an increase in the value of the banking system’s assets and an improvement in their quality. Moreover, the paper explores the crisis of 2008—2009 impact on the functioning of the UK banking system (loans to monetary financial institutions, loans to non-monetary financial institutions, loans to non-monetary financial institutions, loans to the central government, deposits of monetary financial institutions, deposits of non-monetary financial institutions, central government deposits). For this purpose, the system of six vector models of autoregression has been constructed. The results of the simulations have shown that all variables have similar dynamics after the crisis shock, except for central government deposits. In the future, the leveling of the shock is observed for these variables starting from the fourth year. There is only an increase in central government deposits, starting from the second year after the shock The other variables do not respond to the crisis shock.Item The basic principles of innovative development of priority sectors of the processing industry of Ukraine(2019) Boiko, OlenaThe economic development of the industrial sector in Ukraine today creates a new perspective on innovative development. It is the benchmarking tools related to the search and implementation of best management practices in regional governance regarding territorial development that make it possible to solve problems more effectively and set development priorities. Achieving a high standard of living and sustainable regional development are the most important priorities of the community. The tools of benchmarking in the activities of united territorial communities, where the active community adopts experience and gained practice, and sometimes financial assistance from international institutions in order to implement their projects, are of particular relevance. Benchmarking is a tool for improving best activities and practices using the best experience in a specific field. The main aim of the study is to highlight the methodological principles of benchmarking in the analysis and formation of strategic directions of regions and to find a methodological tool that would identify the model-region as an example of best practice in a particular area of territorial strategic development. The study was based on the use of: method of comparison, generalization - to clarify and formalize the essence of the concept, correlation and regression analysis - to build multifactor regression models, to determine the model-territory for basic comparisons of different territories on key indicators, territory clusterization; graphoanalytical method - to provide clarity of the material and schematic representation of a number of theoretical and practical provisions of the study. Methods of computer processing, analysis and display of information using Microsoft Excel, STATISTICA were used for complex analysis. The information base includes statistical materials of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, official publications of international organizations, expert assessments of rating agencies, monographs, basic scientific research of domestic and foreign authors, materials of scientific conferences, domestic and foreign publications, electronic Internet resources, etc.Item Budget deficit management and budget-balancing strategies(Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Publishing House, 2023) Lukianenko, IrynaAn important element of fiscal policy is the timely response to economic cycles, the prevention of economic crises, adherence to maximum limits for the budget deficit and public debt. Issues of medium-term and strategic budget planning hold priority importance. Formulating a long-term strategy and identifying target areas is crucial. However, given the limited budget funds, it is necessary to determine the priority areas of financing to ensure the functions of the state and the socioeconomic development of the country [4]. Managing a budget deficit and developing strategies to balance a budget are crucial aspects of fiscal policy, particularly for governments aiming to maintain financial stability and promote economic growth.
